Here at Livewell Counselling Services, we can provide effective staff supervision by fully qualified counsellors for Primary and Secondary Schools, as well as Further Education establishments.
Supervision is a professional service rather than a managerial role. It is good practise for all staff working in education to have access to monthly support and, as of 2019, the framework within Ofsted’s school inspection handbook looks at how schools consider staff well-being under leadership and management teams.
Supervision in education is a vital process that supports educators’ well-being and professional growth, allowing staff to address emotional challenges and maintain and healthy work-life balance. It has a positive impact on education by improving teaching and helping educators to apply the insight they gain from supervision to enhance student learning.
When considering a supervisor to oversee your establishment, the key questions you need to ask yourself are:
Ensuring you receive a quality service for the well-being of your staff is imperative, and Livewell Counselling Services can deliver just that.
We provide supervision for headteachers and senior leaders. The purpose of supervision in education is to support educators in reflecting on their work, relationships, the emotional demands of their work, and the impact these and the wider education system have on their psychological well-being. As a result of dialogue, new meaning is created, and learning is co-created, forming new action pathways that can contribute to good practice, effective relationships, enhanced wellbeing, and professional and personal growth. Supervisory sessions are for 60 minutes and can be scheduled monthly or on an individual basis.
Our group supervision services are available to teachers and teaching assistants. In group supervision, individuals can explore, reflect upon aspects of their work, learn new skills, and share new ideas.
Since trust is fundamental for group work, it’s crucial that the management team isn’t present during group sessions. The sessions are usually 90 mins in length and can be tailored to meet the needs of any particular group.
The use of early intervention can prevent work-related stress from having a negative impact on an individual’s health in terms of both physical and mental aspects. Additionally, this supports the overall functioning of the organisation. We offer one-to-one psychotherapy, EMDR therapy, person- centred therapy, and integrative therapy sessions to all employees in the education sector.
By offering therapy for youth in education, we offer a more tailored service by assessing the child’s needs and addressing parents’ and school’s concerns. Rather than predicting, the sessions will be tailored to the child’s needs. We have qualified counsellors who are specifically trained in creative therapy to deliver individual or group sessions on a wide range of topics such as low self-esteem, anxiety, Autism, ADHD, loss, family issues such as parents separating, abuse, self-harm, bullying and those acting as carers for a parent. As part of our group counselling services, we also provide support on subjects such as how to build self-esteem, resilience, what constitutes a healthy relationship, and transitions, as well as offering psychoeducation on topics related to risky behaviour.
