Bold Steps: Nurturing Whole-School Wellbeing This Winter

06/11/2025

As the final leaves fall and winter edges closer, schools often feel the shift, darker mornings, tired minds, and the steady hum of an already full term. It’s a time when both children and staff can start to feel the weight of the season.

At Livewell Counselling Service, we believe this is exactly when bold steps matter most, not grand gestures, but intentional choices that prioritise emotional wellbeing across the whole school community.

Our ‘whole-school approach’ to mental health isn’t just another wellbeing initiative. It’s a model built on the understanding that thriving schools grow from connected care.

Here’s how we make that happen:

  • Qualified Counsellors in School, offering children a trusted, consistent space to talk and be heard.
  • Supervision for Headteachers and Staff, supporting those who carry the heaviest loads, helping them stay grounded, resilient, and supported.
  • Confidential Counselling for Staff, Parents, and Families because the well-being of a school extends far beyond the classroom walls. (this is for schools who take up the qualified counsellor in school).

This wrap-around care creates a network of understanding and support that reaches everyone — from the playground to the staffroom.

As we move into winter, we invite schools to take bold steps with us: to see mental health not as a side note, but as the foundation for learning, leadership, and life.

Because when a school chooses to invest in wellbeing for every member of its community, it doesn’t just survive the winter, it grows stronger through it.

Livewell Counselling Service a new way forward for schools ready to nurture courage, connection, and care.
