At Livewell Counselling Service, we believe that meaningful change happens when professionals feel confident, informed, and supported in the work they do. This week, we were delighted to deliver a bespoke training workshop for the Victim Support Team, who approached us because of our growing reputation across the North West and beyond for working closely with neurodiverse children, young people and education establishments.
Victim Support requested a session tailored specifically to the challenges their teams face when supporting neurodiverse young people, especially in situations of heightened stress or vulnerability when attending court. We were proud to design a workshop that not only shared practical tools, but also reflected the compassion, curiosity, and commitment of the staff who attended.
Why Tailor-Made Training Matters
Every organisation faces different pressures, environments, and expectations. A generic approach simply isn’t enough, especially when working with young people who process the world in diverse and unique ways. Our workshop for Victim Support explored:
- Building trusting relationships with children and young people who are neurodiverse
- Staying calm, grounded, and co‑regulating during moments of overwhelm
- Adapting communication to reduce anxiety and increase clarity
- Understanding sensory and environmental needs
- Supporting young people preparing to attend court,
Where systems and processes can feel intimidating or unpredictable we designed each element around real scenarios their team encounters, ensuring every strategy had immediate, practical value.
Feedback That Moved Us :
The response from the team was genuinely uplifting. Participants shared comments such as: – “Excellent training, well delivered & relevant to my role.” – “Very informative, useful & practical info.” – “Engaging, knowledgeable, interactive.” – “Tailored to our needs with great resources—highly recommended.” Hearing that the session resonated so strongly affirms why we do this work. Tailoring training to the needs of each team ensures that staff leave with skills they can use the very next day—and confidence that those skills will make a positive difference.
