Real Voices. Real Experiences. Real Change.
World Mental Health Day on 10 October 2026 is an opportunity to pause and think about what it really means to support mental health.
This year’s theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change,” highlights the importance of listening to people’s experiences and recognising that those voices can help shape better mental health support and services.
At Livewell, this message sits at the heart of what we do.
Listening is more than hearing
Everyone’s experience of mental health is different. For some, it may be anxiety, low mood, grief or difficult life experiences. For children and young people, emotional wellbeing may be communicated through behaviour, relationships, play or difficulties at school.
Sometimes people simply need a safe space where they can talk openly, without judgement, and feel genuinely heard.
Our counselling and children’s therapy provide that space — helping individuals explore their experiences, develop understanding and find ways to move forward.
Supporting wellbeing in education
Our work with schools and education professionals reflects our belief that mental health and emotional wellbeing are fundamental to learning and development.
Children and young people bring their experiences into the classroom, while teachers and education staff can carry significant emotional and professional pressures of their own.
Through our therapy, counselling, coaching and supervision, we support individuals and education settings to develop greater awareness, resilience and wellbeing.
Supervision also provides professionals with valuable time to pause, reflect and think about their own practice and wellbeing.
From listening to meaningful change
Listening should not simply be about hearing someone’s story. It should help us understand what that person needs and consider how we can respond.
Whether we are supporting a child, a young person, an adult, a professional or an entire education setting, we believe that meaningful support starts with understanding the individual.
This World Mental Health Day, let’s take the time to listen, understand and make space for real voices and real experiences.
Because sometimes, positive change begins with something as simple as being heard.
Supporting better mental health through listening and understanding.
